Beverly Kay MacQueen, 83, of Goldsboro passed away Wednesday at Wayne UNC Healthcare. She is the widow of the late George “Jeff” Foster MacQueen. They were married for 60 years and had four beautiful children. Beverly was an Air Force wife for 21 years. Goldsboro was their last stop and they choose to make it their forever home. Beverly was a longtime member of New Life Baptist Church and was a public-school teacher along with being very active in the community.

Beverly graduated from Fairview High School and then continued her education at East Carolina University where she earned her bachelor’s degree in education and her masters in psychology. She followed her husband to Mississippi, Louisiana, Kansas, Texas, Florida, and Puerto Rico. Once her husband retired from Seymour Johnson, Beverly taught special education at Brogden Primary for 2 years, the children's unit at Cherry hospital, and Needham Broughton high school in Raleigh where her husband was a Jr. ROTC director. Beverly and Jeff spent many summers in Creed in the beautiful mountains of Colorado. They later choose to live their summers in Boone, North Carolina.

A funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, February 13, at 6:00 PM at New Life Baptist Church with Rev. Ron Varner and Rev. Rick Mondell officiating. The family invites friends to a time of casual fellowship prior to the service beginning at 5:30. A private burial will be at a later date.

Mrs. MacQueen is survived by two sons, Brent MacQueen (Barbara) of Foster City, CA; Kevin MacQueen (Lisa) of LaGrange; two daughters, Sheryl Donaldson of Asheville, and Tracy Lee Bass (Kenny Wayne) of Dunn; one brother, Mack Wedel (Sue) of Edmond, OK; three sisters, Carol Wedel Snell (John) of McPherson, KS, Patti Zeka (Marti) of Wellington, KS and Susan Patterson (Joe) of Kansas City, KS; 6 grandchildren, Jason Turney of Asheville, NC, Shy Donaldson of Ponte Vedra Beach, FL, Mark Donaldson of Jacksonville, FL, Serge Donaldson of Wilmington, NC, James Frost of LaGrange, NC, and Taylor Bass of Dunn, NC; and one great granddaughter, Sloan Donaldson of Ponte Vedra Beach, FL.
