Jack Lester Barrett, age 71, died Friday morning at Kitty Askins Hospice Center in Goldsboro. Born in Eden, N.C. he was the son of the late Lester Wilson Barrett and Annie Colleen Taylor Barrett currently of Reidsville, N.C. and was the husband of the late Peggy Mahoney Barrett.
A Memorial Service to celebrate Jacks life will be held on Sunday at 3:00 p.m. at Goldsboro Worship Center with Rev. Michael Hamm officiating. The family will visit with friends after the service at the church.
Jack retired as a flight engineer with Gemini Air Cargo and had attended Goldsboro Worship Center.
In addition to his mother, Jack is survived by a son; Gregory Jack Barrett and his wife Kimberly of Mount Olive, a daughter; Leslie Anderson and her husband Billy of Goldsboro, a brother; Johnny Ray Barrett of Martinsville, Virginia, a sister-in-law; Mary Barrett of Eden, N.C., seven grandchildren; Ryan Herring, Hayley Barrett and her Fiancé Josh Odom, Ashton Herring, Heidi Barrett, Kylie Anderson, Noah Barrett and Molly Barrett.

Jack and I went on many a trip together during my time in the 701st as engineers. I have very fond memories of our times together. I hope he rests in peace. Tsgt Louis Rucker, Turtles forever
